BCS Anzac
Assembly 7th April 2005
The school community
invited special guests from all walks of life to commemorate the supreme
sacrifice paid by members of our three fighting forces, an event we all know as Anzac Day
celebrated for the first time in 1916. The key word attached to the Anzac spirit is
'mateship' and that
expresses our very Australian way of life. Hon. Bob Baldwyn our Federal member
for Patterson and the Occasional Address given by WO Greg from the RAAF Base at
Williamtown both expressed the importance of 'mateship'
.
Students
performed dance and recited poetry applicable to the occasion as part of the
proceedings, others, dressed as Air Force personnel attended flag lowering
duties.
Invited guests included some of old soldiers resident in Bulahdelah who proudly wore the medals they earned in various theatres of war during WWII
