Jean
passed away peacefully in the afternoon on Tuesday 12th August 2003. On
the previous Sunday most of her immediate family had come from near and far
to celebrate an early 80th Birthday for her in the hospital ward. Jean
had gone for a final holiday in the months just preceding her death, a
journey which took her to Tasmania to catch up with the latest of her
descendants, and on a visit to Norfolk Island with her daughter Lois
accompanying her . Jean
will be remembered among other things for her wonderful gift of hospitality.
In recent years Breanholme the large home her husband Brian had built for
their retirement was open to all comers, including many who had lost their
way in the world. Jean would provide food, warmth and above all concerned
love. Regularly there would be a
meeting with a gospel message or mini convention with a visiting speaker in
the large meeting room accommodating sometimes more and sometimes less than
seventy people of all ages. A
Funeral Service was held at The Uniting Church at Bulahdelah on Monday 18th August 2003 at 1pm. |
